At Colindale Primary School, it is our policy that all children, from Little Rainbows to Year 6, wear school uniform. We believe that a uniform looks smart, wears well, supports good behaviour, and fosters a sense of belonging. Wearing a uniform also encourages children to take pride in their appearance, which is an important life skill as they move on to secondary school and beyond. Additionally, it helps children take responsibility for their belongings.

Where to find uniform

A full range of both branded and unbranded school clothing and equipment, including sweatshirts, fleeces, polo shirts, book bags, and PE/swimming bags, is available from our uniform supplier, Smiths Schoolwear. Please note: We only require two items to have the school logo:

  • The cardigan or jumper
  • The school book bag

All other items can be plain and purchased from any store of your choice.

Footwear

Children must wear plain black school shoes.

PE Kit

  • Black shorts, joggers, or leggings
  • White t-shirt
  • Plain black hoodie, sweatshirt, or purple school jumper
  • Plain black plimsolls for indoor PE – preferably with elastic or Velcro fastenings for younger children
  • Plain black trainers for outdoor PE – preferably with elastic or Velcro fastenings for younger children

Please ensure that all clothing is clearly marked with your child’s name.

Jewellery, Makeup, and Other Items

Jewellery is not allowed, as it can pose a safety risk. The only exception is small stud earrings (with no sharp posts) if parents feel these need to be kept in. Hoop or dangly earrings must not be worn.

  • Children may wear a watch, but the school cannot take responsibility for any loss, damage, or accidents. No smartwatches allowed.  
  • Makeup and nail varnish are not permitted.

Personal Belongings

  • Children must not bring toys, sweets, or money to school, as lost or broken items can cause upset and disrupt learning.
  • Mobile phones are not permitted in school. The only exception is for Year 5 and 6 independent travellers, who must hand in their phone to their class teacher at the start of the day for safekeeping.
