Pupil Premium Strategy
At Colindale, we are ambitious for every child. We believe that a child’s background should never be a barrier to their success, and we are committed to ensuring that all our children have the opportunity to achieve well, develop their talents and take a full and active part in school life.
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools to support children who may experience disadvantage. We use this funding carefully, looking at the needs of our children and the barriers they may face, so that we can provide the right support at the right time.
High-quality, inclusive teaching is at the heart of our approach. We place particular emphasis on strong foundations in reading, language and mathematics, alongside targeted support for children who need additional help to keep up or catch up.
But doing well at school is about more than academic achievement. We also use our Pupil Premium funding to help remove wider barriers to learning, improve attendance and wellbeing, and ensure children can benefit from the rich experiences and opportunities that are an important part of life at Colindale.
Our Approach:
Our Pupil Premium strategy focuses on three key areas:
High-quality teaching – ensuring all children benefit from excellent, inclusive classroom teaching, supported by evidence-informed staff development.nal development.
Targeted academic support – providing timely intervention and additional support where children need it.
Wider opportunities and support – addressing barriers such as attendance and wellbeing, while helping children access enrichment opportunities including clubs, music, sport and other experiences.
We know that every child and every family is different. We work closely with children and their families to understand individual circumstances and provide support sensitively and thoughtfully.
Our Pupil Premium Strategy Statement below sets out in more detail how we use our funding, the challenges we have identified and how we evaluate the impact of our work.
